EARLY BIRD SPECIALS ARE OVER.
On Monday we had our official launch event, where we had a Surf Wirelessly and “cut the Ethernet cable” event. Some of our earliest beta testers were there as was Mayor Pro Tem Jim Vreeland.
In celebration of our service launch, we’ll be offering some limited space and limited time Early Bird offers.
First, we have 25 23 13 11 10 9 8 7 5 4 2 0 spots available that offer half-price monthly service for a full year and a discounted receiving unit ($49.95 instead of $79.95). These are first come, first served. Once they are gone, they’re gone. To take advantage of this offer, sign up at our services page (click HERE) and use the promo code: PAC - Be sure to type this promo code USING ALL CAPS = PAC, not pac).
Once those spots are gone, we’ll have a limited time offer where people can sign up and get 6 months of half-price monthly service and a discounted receiving unit ($59.95 instead of $79.95). To take advantage of this offer, sign up at our services page (click HERE) and use the promo code: PNL - Be sure to type this promo code USING ALL CAPS = PNL, not pnl).
With both offers the receiving unit can be rented instead of purchased ($4.95 / month), if that is your preference.
We realize there are still a few patches of Pacifica which are not yet covered. We’re working as fast as we can to get coverage to you. If we haven’t already communicated and you are interested in an Early Bird deal, please email me and I will save you a spot.
We’d like to thank the City of Pacifica, its leaders, our beta testers and all of our current and future customers. We look forward to serving you.

Thank you Pacifica Net. You always respond quickly and efficiently to my emails. You really go the extra mile for the customer. I never had this kind of personal care with SBC. Thanks, and keep up the great work! Mark Escott

I was setting up a wireless network extender today here in Park Pacifica and I saw “PacificaNet” in my list of available networks. So I went online and found your website. Are you advertising around town? I don’t get the Pacifica newspaper but you should get some flyers into Radio Shack (I was there today to buy the network extender).

We just moved to Pacifica- Seaside Dr. We are interested in Pacifa.net, but know very little about the service. How fast is your connection in comparison to ATT? Can multiple computers be connected wirelessly? Thanks
Mary

We’re interested in signing up with the early bird special, but will be out of town/not able to set anything up until July 16. Can we get “dibbs” on one of the remaining 8 slots?
Thanks – we’re excited to try this out!

Hi Ted, Mary and Amy –
Ted – Great idea. We have started advertising a bit but have gone slowly to make sure as people come on, they have a good experience. We will be doing more in the coming months. And I will check in to partnering with Radio Shack. That a super place to spread the word.
Mary – Our speeds can be as fast or faster than many DSL connections. Services are here: http://www.pacificanet.com/services.html And yes, multiple computers can be connected wirelessly using our receiving unit. It can also be plugged into a router or wireless router.
Amy – The spots are starting to disappear. I emailed you about how to get your spot saved.
Thanks!

how do i get for free
August 3, 2007 at 4:52 pm |
Brandon –
The service isn’t free, per se. People who are residential and business customers can use the Hot Spot at no additional charge. So you use Pacifica Net as your SP at home or work and then you can roam around town at no extra cost.
Thanks!

What are the upload/download speeds? Also is there a limit to the size of downloads? If the service is wireless what do you need a receiving unit for?

The site is difficult to use. I am camping at SF RV Resort and wanted to purchase a week subscription. The web page was slow to respond or did not respond at all. After several attempts, I completed the application only to have my Visa card “rejected”. I knew there was no problem with the Visa account so I tried again and finally got the subscription for 3 days. On the third day I could not access the www. So I only got service for 2 days. I really need the Internet access for business reasons so I tried to sign up for another 3 day pass. The system would not allow me to do it. I got an error message that there was already an account at that email address. There was no way to renew my subscription for another 3 days. I found this site so am passing this information on to you. This had not been satisfactory!!!

Mike –
I suspect the issues you are having are that our network can not hear your laptop’s radio/antenna. You can try getting closer to an antenna (see map) or you can buy or rent a receiving device from us. You can decide which of these is a better idea for you based on how long you will be at the RV park. You can also contact our customer support at 650.712.5900.
We’re happy to help however we can.
